Nov. 1, 2012

I was advised that I need to congratulate a good friend of mine!   Jason Pahnke, 78, got his very first heat race win during the Kokomo Klash.  Congratulations Jason, I know you have been working VERY hard to accomplish that task!  Sorry I missed it!  My apologies in the delay.  I never received heat race results from Kokomo and was unaware as to who had won the heats.

Keep in mind that the 2012 Banquet is next weekend, Nov. 10th.   If you have not gotten your tickets yet, please contact Bridget to arrange for them, you can email her if need be.  Congratulations everyone.  Enjoy the banquet, the upcoming holiday season and we hope to see you all at the track in 2013!

October 23, 2012

Congratulations to Mike Kingma on his win at the 6th annual Kokomo Klash this past Saturday.  There were 15 I-Mods present for the evening.  Thanks to everyone who put up with the weather and the drive to make the 2012 Kokomo Klash a success for the I-Mods.

The 2012 I-Mod Banquet of Champions will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 at the Moose Lodge in Rensselaer, Indiana.  Doors open at 5 with dinner at 6 and awards and DJ to follow.  Tickets will be $25 per person and can be purchased through Bridget Owens. There will be a cash bar.  The top twenty (20) drivers will received awards and monies.  Drivers who have participated in 50% of the 2012 Schedule are eligible for additional awards.  Be sure to purchase your tickets by email through Bridget or seeing her at the track.

As you are well aware, the 2012 I-Mod Divisional Points have now been re-tallied.  All drivers kept their top 21 nights and the rest have been wiped clear.  For those driver's that did not have 21 nights on their schedule, no races were dropped.  You will notice a big change in the final point standings.  If anyone has any questions or wishes to see the tally sheets, please feel free to email me, and I will forward you both the ongoing yearly score sheet and the Final Score sheet dropping everyone's worst nights.

Congratulations on a competitive and clean 2012 season.  Enjoy the banquet, rest up for a bit and tackle those cars for the 2013 race season!   Keep checking for future updates and schedules.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure working with all of you, drivers, crews, car owners and sponsors, over my 6 years as I-Mod administrator.  I have made many friends and I am very grateful for those connections.  I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.  I'll be seeing you -  Amy Geruska, I-Mod Administrator

Due to lack of sponsorship for this race it has been my decision to Not have a race of champions at this time. With the rescheduling of the races at ShadyHill conflicting with Kankakee i don't feel that it is fair to the racers or the tracks to have this race on this weekend. I did not know about this until late in the season and did not have time to plan it out. I may choose to have this at Kokomo at the end of the season if i can get sponsorship and can get the track to go along with this decision. I know i have had to change things from the past administration as this has been a learning experience for me as the new owner. I will have a race of champions in 2013 season. The I-MOD Association is currently seeking a new title sponsor for the 2013 season and hope to have some news by the banquet.

Thanks
Series Director

September 12, 2012

My apologies for the delay in updates.  I am officially settled into my new home and ready to roll!

First off, there has not been much racing the past couple of weeks.  Sept. 1st was rained out at Shadyhill Speedway.  Then for the first time in a couple years, Kankakee County Speedway actually rained out on Sept. 7th and Shadyhill Speedway was closed for Eldora Weekend on Sept. 8th.

Nick Pasek picked up his second feature win of the season on August 31, 2012 at Kankakee County Speedway. Congratulations!!

There is a schedule change that you all need to be aware of.  Since the Labor Day Celebration was rained out at Shadyhill Speedway on Sept. 1st, they have extended their season.  Sept. 15th Shadyhill Speedway will run their Labor Day Celebration with fireworks.  Then Sept. 22nd will be their final race night with their Season Banquet being held on Nov. 3rd.

Speaking of banquets, the 2012 I-Mod Championship Banquet is in the works.  My predecessor, Bridgette Owens and Series Director Roy Mitchell are in the planning process.  When details are available, I will report them here.

Good Luck this weekend at Kankakee County Speedway and Shadyhll Speedway.

******************************************************************************************************

August 27, 2012

Congratulations to first time feature winner Terry Sadowski in the Patriotic 911 machine.  Terry conquered Kankakee County Speedway and 14 other drivers to capture his first  I-Mod career feature!  Way to go Terry!!  And on Saturday at Shadyhill Speedway veteran Mike Kingma added another feature sticker to his sail panel.

The 2012 race season is winding down.  There are only two nights remaining at Shadyhill Speedway, six nights at Kankakee County Speedway and we end our 2012 points race at Kokomo Speedway on October 20th.  Check out the Schedule page for the  remaining schedule.

Just a reminder, the 2012 points structure means that only a driver's top 20 points nights will count towards the final points.  So be prepared to see the points race shift around as the weeks wind down.  Good Luck and Race Hard!

*********************************************************************************************************

August 23, 2012

Congratulations to Chris Balazs on his feature win Friday night at Kankakee County Speedway.  Mike Kingma of Lowell, held off 15 cars to take the win Saturday at Shadyhill Speedway for the I-Mod Double Night.  Mike received double the purse and double the points from the track.  But thanks to Paul's Auto Yard of Westville, Indiana, the remaining 15 drivers also received double the money for their efforts as well as double the track and I-Mod Points.

This Friday, August 24th is KCS Apparel Night - Wear any KCS apparel into the grandstands and receive $5 off your general admission.

Saturday is a Full Racing Program, Teen-4 Just for Fun Race and Food Pantry Night at Shadyhill Speedway.  Receive $1 off regular grandstand admission with each "in date" canned good up you bring to the track up to $5 off adult and $2 off Child.

August 14, 2012

Congratulations to this past weekend's feature winners, Mike Kingma at Kankakee and Jon Robbins at Shadyhill on Saturday.

This Friday, August 17th is a full racing program at Kankakee. Shadyhill is hosting the I-Mod Double night where the winner will get double money and the feature will give double points.  But Paul's Auto Yard of Westville is sponsoring the I-Mod Double night as well so for second place finisher on back will also get double the pay!  It is also a I-Mod Association Double Points Night.

*********************************************************************************************************

Effective as of 8/1/2012 the weight rule is 2400# I think this will benefit most of the drivers that have gained some weight over the years and even them with the young drivers that are still learning to drive without having to add so much weight to these cars! With the prices of lead and others metals going up all the time we want to make this more affordable for all the racers!

Thanks
Roy

July 31, 2012

July 23, 2012  EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

After all that has happened this season it is time to take some serious action and, this will be for the use of a illegal cam, motor, trans, rearend or ignition!  Effective as of 7/23/2012 Any competitor deemed illegal for the use of the before mentioned  will be suspended for 2 weeks and will be fined $200.00 and all point to date will be taken away!

Also any competitor receiving 2 or more warnings from the flagman or I-mod for rough driving will be suspended for 1 week of racing.

We take this sport serious and will not tolerate these actions any longer. This class was built for the design to have a cheap affordable racing series and is getting out of hand. My goal is to make this a more enjoyable series that more racer will want to be a part of!

So lets go back a bit shall we.  There are a few winners we need to congratulate since my computer failure!

First off, Congratulation to Brad DeYoung for his win on July 4th at Shadyhill Speedway. Nice to have you in the division again Brad!

And finally, on Saturday, July 14th Mike Kingma picked up his 7th feature of the season.  Mike is leading the I-Mod points but there is still plenty of time for anyone to challenge for the championship.  Especially under the new points structure, anything is still possible!

It appears that the I-Mods are off next Friday, July 20th at Kankakee County Speedway.  There will still be racing, the third leg of the Cross Town Cup Race will be taking place.

Saturday, July 21st, Shadyhill Speedway is having a full racing program plus it is the UMP Stock Car Doubles night and the annual Autograph Night.  Be sure to bring your Sharpies, photos and maybe a few sweet treats to share with all your fans!

July 15, 2012

I would like to apologize folks.  Due to computer and internet issues, I have been unable to update the website.  I am really hoping all the technical difficulties have been resolved.  I will do my best to get caught up.

July 1, 2012

Congratulations to our feature winners from this past weekend!  Neil Martin took his 88 machine to victory lane on Friday night at Kankakee County Speedway for the second time this season. Then on Saturday night at Shadyhill Speedway there was a newcomer in victory lane, Chris Balazs in that familiar 63 machine finally got the sweet  taste of victory!  Nice work Guys!

Wednesday, July 4th Shadyhill Speedway will be presenting their 11th Annual UMP Modified "Firecracker 50" plus a regular race program and awesome fireworks!  It is also announced that Mitchell Motorsports is sponsoring a Bonus Night for the I-Mods.   There will be 4 envelopes totaling $100.00 that will go to 4 drivers finishing 2nd on back. The feature winner will pick 4 driver's cards from a helmet and each will get an envelope containing an unknown amount ranging between $10 and $50.  So driver's be sure you bring your I-Mod Driver's Card to the Feature Tech Session!!!  The heat race winners on the 4th will also receive trophies for their win.

The I-Mods are also looking for Heat Race Sponsors.  We are looking for these sponsorships to be worth $25 each and they will be sponsoring the Heat Race Trophies.  Trophies will have the date and sponsors name on them and will be handed out to the heat race winners at the track of the sponsors choice.  We currently have two different sponsors for Kankakee and are looking for Shadyhill Sponsors.  Interested parties should contact Roy Mitchell at 219-613-7705.

A gentle reminder as well, July 4th it will be required for all cars to have Hoosier Tires on all 4 corners to be eligible and legal per the rule book.

Enjoy the holiday week!

************************************************************

June 4, 2012

Another weekend of racing is behind us.  Congratulations to Mike Kingma on his back to back feature wins this past weekend.  That gives Mike a total of 4 features this season.

As many of you are aware, there were a couple of issues found during tech on Friday night at Kankakee County Speedway.  After the tech tools were checked for calibration, the ruling is that the two cars were indeed illegal.  Therefore, those drivers have lost all I-Mod points for Friday night and will not be allowed to run until their cars are re-teched for legality.  Therefore, all driver's who finished under those cars have been bumped up in the finishing order and given points accordingly.

This Friday, June 8th, KCS will have a full program with the Crosstown Cup Race #2.

Saturday, June 9th SHS will have a full nights program plus Teen-4 Doubles night.

************************************************************

May 22, 2012

Well I just found out today that my #2 back-up tech guy did not show up to both race tracks this past weekend! Not happy about not getting a call from him to at least give me heads up on this! To all my racers I'm sorry this happened and I will be getting new people I can trust to do the job when Dale and I can not be there. I will be at the tracks for the next 6 weeks and hope to have it all taken care of before my next out of town trip!

May 14, 2012

We hope all the Mother's had a pleasant Mother's Day!!  Another weekend of racing is under our belts.  Friday, Chris Arihood was able to pull off his second win of the 2012 season at Kankakee County Speedway; while Bob Fortner was able to capture his first 2012 victory at Shadyhill Speedway on Saturday.  Congratulations to all on a job well done.

The car count is wonderful at Kankakee County Speedway.  We had 20 cars the first night and 19 cars on our second appearance.  However, our car count at Shadyhill Speedway is rather low, 10 cars so far on both nights.  In an effort to pull cars, the I-Mod Association has received an anonymous sponsor that is adding funds to increase the Shadyhill Speedway winners purse to $275 for the next four (4) weeks.

Also, this coming Saturday at Shadyhill Speedway is the I-Mod "Who Ever" race.  Meaning after all the regular nights events, anyone can climb into an I-Mod EXCEPT the actual driver.  It can be another driver, a sponsor, a spouse, a potential buyer, anyone.  Lets get some interest in our class and get those cars out to Shadyhill Speedway!!

Finally, if you have not turned in your paperwork and registration fees, you will not receive I-Mod Points nor are you eligible for I-Mod Sponsored bonus monies.  Make sure you get your paperwork and fees turned in ASAP!

Enjoy your week!

May 10, 2012

My apologies to all.  I understand that everyone checks the website almost immediately after race night.  Since I am no longer a weekly staple for the I-Mod Association at the race tracks, I have to wait for the official results to be emailed or faxed to me. Being that it is the first week of racing, the race tracks do not have all the kinks worked out in their publication departments.  Bear with all of us, it will get better.

As it is clearly stated, points will only be issued to registered drivers who have paid all Association fees.  So if you don't see your name, don't worry, once fees are paid, all points from all races ran will be issued.

If anyone would like to submit a short written story regarding any I-Mod racing event, please email it to imodweb@yahoo.com .  As long as the story is completely neutral in content and is written only about the racing action, I will post it here.  I will NOT post any story that is one sided or complains about the race tracks.  I use to write the stories weekly, but again, since I will not be attending the races, stories will be needed.

Also, ANY I-Mod video will be gladly used if you provide me the youtube link.  I understand that if you are video taping, its is probably for the purpose of a particular driver.  That is okay.  I would love to include  those videos.  Just email the link to imodweb@yahoo.com.

Again, thanks for being patient with me.  Things will get rolling smoothly in the next week or so.

April 22, 2012

ATTENTION DRIVERS!!

Please be advised that is MANDATORY to have a Raceciever if you plan on running at Kankakee County Speedway. You can purchase the Racecievers from Kankakee County Speedway for $100, it includes the earpiece.  Kankakee County Speedway will be utilizing the transponders to line-up all classes on restarts.  You will use Channel 110 Frequency 451.3625

************************************************************

April 15, 2012

Attention Drivers.  On opening race day, you will be given a sponsor decal packet.  These decals are to be placed in a specific location on the left side wing near the driver's door.  Please make sure you leave a 10" wide by 20" tall spot near the driver's door open.  These decals are vital! In order for any driver to be eligible for bonus moneys, special races or special awards, these decals MUST be in the location specified. Below is a sample of the way these decals would be placed, we are working on the possibility of 1 more in addition.

If you have last year's decals still on your car, you will have to remove ALL OF THE OLD SPONSOR DECALS!! They have all changed.

************************************************************

April 8, 2012

August 18, 2012 is scheduled to be the I-Mod Doubles Night at Shadyhill Speedway.  Shadyhill Speedway doubles the pay of the Winner of the main feature and doubles the points for the rest of the drivers that night.  The I-Mod Association has already announced that the divisional points will be doubled that night as well.

Paul's Auto Yard of Westville has stepped up to the plate to make it a true Double night for all I-Mod Driver's involved.  Paul's Auto Yard will double the payout from second place through the last place finish.  Be sure to support Paul's Auto Yard by utilizing their services throughout the 2012 race season to thank them for their continued support of The I-Mod Association.

Hoosier Tire Midwest is pleased to announce that the I-MOD Association has come on board and will utilize HOOSIER Racing Tires as the official spec tire for the series for the 2012 season and beyond. With a substantially lower retail price to the consumer than current pricing and a point fund contribution to the series, new I-MOD owner Roy Mitchell seen this move as a win-win for everyone concerned. Hoosier Tire Midwest has made provision with the series to allow the competitors to continue to use their existing spec tires until July 1, allowing for a burn off and insuring that competitors don’t get stuck with tires they may have in stock that can no longer be used.

Tires will be available soon and can be purchased by contacting I-Mod Association Series Director Roy Mitchell for information on availability.

Hoosier Tire Midwest wishes luck to all of the I-MOD Association competitors and look forward to being able to provide a long lasting, repeatable product that will save the competitors money.

Information on Hoosier Racing Tire can be found at hoosiertire.com.

Mitchell Motorsports is announcing that in an effort to increase the 2012 I-Mod Association Championship Point fund, it will add $5 per sheet of aluminum sold to an I-Mod driver towards the I-Mod Association points fund, in addition to the five sheets that have already been donated towards the point fund. We here at RaceStar Concepts, LLC would like to announce that the I-MOD Association has been purchased by Roy Mitchell. Roy has been involved in motorsports for many years and has worn many hats including piloting a late model in the World of Outlaws national tour. He will take over all operations of the I-MOD Association immediately. Roy has also looked over the recently released 2012 schedule and points structure and has eagerly approved. He has also committed to keep moving the I-MOD Association in the same direction RaceStar Concepts, LLC has for the last 2 years.

On a personal note, everyone here at RaceStar Concepts, LLC would like to thank the drivers, car owners, crews, and fans for their continued help and support of the I-MOD Association. We have come a long way and the future looks great for the division. We wish Roy great success.

March 21, 2012

After much consideration the 2012 points structure has taken shape and will give the
driver that only competes one night a week a shot at being Champion! There are 42
scheduled nights for the I-MOD Association for 2012 between 3 race tracks.  While some
drivers may choose to run in every event, only the driver's top 21 feature finishes will
be considered for the I-Mod Association points race. Heat races will no longer be scored
for I-MOD points. Heat race finishes, however, will still be used by the race tracks for their
feature line ups as I-MOD has NO hand in that process. This structure will not only
simplify the points process, it will not penalize a driver for a few bad finishes or for even
missing a race or two.

As in the past, there are three (3) I-Mod Association Double Point nights.  On these
particular nights, the feature points will be doubled and will only count as one night of
racing.

It is time to gear up guys, racing is right around the corner! Good Luck this Season.

January 17, 2012

Here it is… a new year once again. Winter has finally arrived, NASCAR has concluded their first test
of the season in Daytona, and Kankakee County Speedway has held their annual mid-winter banquet.
Judging by the numerous phone calls and e-mails I’ve been receiving, many of you have started
preparing your cars for the 2012 season. I, too, have been busy. I’ve been working on the new
schedule, finished up the 2012 rules, and I am about finished with the revised point system. I’ve been
doing all of this while getting accustomed to my new job. I have left my job of the last 10 years and
accepted the challenge of a more technical position at the top rated repair shop in Valparaiso.

I’d like to address a “rumor” that has been floating around lately. The I-MOD Association is NOT
folding up. It is NOT disbanding. It IS for sale. It is for sale because of my concerns that with my
new job, I won’t be able to give the association the attention it deserves. Being owner, director,
tech inspector, and now office administrator, takes a huge dedication of time and effort. I refuse
to slight you guys in any way. If I can’t give it 100%, I would rather find someone who can than
see all the hard work of the last 2 years go to waste. I have spoken to a few interested parties but
I haven’t found the proper fit just yet. I want to find someone who will continue this series and
keep the basic core of rules and values. These rules have been basically unchanged since 1997.
That’s what makes this class so appealing to other racers. That’s why Circle Track Magazine
recognized the I-MOD Association as one of the only series that actually grew in 2012. (stay
tuned for more info on this article!) If I cannot find a suitable new owner, I will continue as owner/
director. If you or someone you know are interested in purchasing the association, contact me. It
will be sold “turnkey” with the 2012 season all ready to go.

I will keep everyone up to date on how things are progressing. I will post the revised point system
as soon as it is completed. I am working on a points system that will allow a driver to have a
legitimate shot at a good season points finish or even a points championship and not have to run
every points race!

Remember to check out the rules page on the I-MOD website if you have any questions while
preparing your cars.
If you still have any questions, please e-mail me as my new job does not allow phone usage during
the day.

Practice days are only a few short weeks away!

Rich Rish
I-MOD Association Director
